Strange fact 2: chocolate is more effective than cough syrup when treating colds

everyone can agree that cough syrup is absolutely disgusting. the slightly sticky consistency and sweet bitter taste leaves you wanting to gag, but what if I told you that you can eat a few pieces of chocolate instead of taking your daily dose of medicine.
chocolate contains a substance called theobromine (thee-oh-bro-mean) and cough syrup has a substance called codeine. Codein is said to relieve the itchy feeling in your throat that causes coughing, but tests show that theobromine is 33% more effective than codeine in stopping coughing and is also way more safe than over the counter medicines. although cough syrup is almost never harmful it can have side effects such as drowsiness and dry mouth. all chocolate does is treat your mouth to a sweet and tasty treat. although dark chocolate has higher levels of theobromine than milk chocolate it is still tastier that your average cough syrup. so the next time your in an unruly coughing fit feel free to eat a few pieces of dark chocolate instead of pinching your nose and gulping down the horrific taste of artificially flavored medicine.

Strange fact 1: Mice actually… don’t like cheese?

If you’re and exterminator you most likely know that mice actually don’t like cheese And if you’re not an exterminator you’re probably thinking “yeahh okay mice love cheese, everyone knows that”. Well Dr. David Homes, scientist at the Manchester Metropolitan University recently did a study on the diet of a mouse, and when it comes down to it mice will eat just about anything when they’re hungry. Although they do prefer sweet things like strawberries and other fruits and in some cases certain mice will even eat insects and small animals
So how did this mice and cheese myth get started? The leading theory says that there really isn’t any evidence that supports this assumption. most scientist think that it had to do with people from hundreds of years ago who would stack food in their cupboards such as highly salted meats and cheeses to preserve them. these people would later on find tiny teeth marks in their cheeses. therefore making the assumption that mice like cheese when really they were just looking for something to eat and happened to get into their assortment of cheeses.
so the next time you find out you have mice scurrying around youre house be sure to set a trap with peanut butter, or chocolate (as they are preferred by mice) instead of going into your assortment of cheeses for the perfect bait.
